V11 – Pg12
The Eyes Have It
In typical VANGUARD fashion, we see another enemy being brutally dispatched by one of our heroes… but Pendragon’s troubles have only just begun.!
Pop back tomorrow for some guest Halloween themed artwork too!
I’ve been a busy boy! I added a cover to issue six , uploaded issue five to Comixology as well as the trade paperback of the first five issues. Hooray!

It was REALLLLLY difficult to not shout a “Hell Yeah!” or “Effin Right!” at my desk reading this
I’m glad we can get that reaction out of readers 🙂
Didnt see that coming.
You had to keep an eye out… heh
I like that Pendragon’s not afraid to resort to firearms if the situation calls for it. And this situation clearly called for it.
Resort? Firearms have always been his first choice, but we don’t always get what we want.
Originally Batman carried a gun and may have done so now. Sometimes you just have use lead. Or in SHIELD’s case very good stunners.
Wow, Barrage a Trois was really employed just for the shock and horror affect, wasn’t he? I mean, when you’re weakness is BEING SHOT TO DEATH, you aren’t much more of a threat compared to a normal person. I mean, sure, that gun could be something suped up to penetrate damage-resistant people easier, but being tougher than normal doesn’t mean very much when anyone with a reproducible weapon can blow a hole in you.
If I remember I’ll address it further in next week’s comments. Barrage is way stronger and bigger and faster than a normal guy. He’s even more resilient. But Pendragon shoots him through the eye. And I’m not a doctor or a scientist, but I kind of think that even if your eye is 10 times more resilient than the average eye, it’s still an eye, right? Plus, now you have a bullet inside his skull which is 10 times more resilient than the average skull which just means it won’t pass through his skull, but it will bounce around in his brain a lot more. Once Vince is killed it disrupts the whole matrix that makes Barrage a Trois “super”. He only works when all three of them are together. At least that’s my rationale for what occurs here.
In Vanguard universe even the Alphas are not invulnerable. The only way invulnerable “works” is if you have some kind of force shield power. Otherwise you’re still meat and bone.
In 1953 Bella Twin reportedly killed a Grizzly with a .22 rifle. This story is pretty widely reported. And you can go on YouTube and watch people kill elephants with bow and arrow. So saying Barrage isn’t much is like saying a grizzly or an elephant isn’t much.
Thanks for reading and caring as much as we do!
I can’t remember name but their is an old, OLD film of a guy killing an elephant, a charging bull elephant, with a bow and arrow, ONE arrow. Right I the eye. Conversely Phineas Gage survived having a 6ft. iron rod blasted through his frontal lobe, it pierced his skull twice.
OH no! My only weakness, weapons!
Lead!? That’s like Kryptonite to me, especially when it goes through my head at hundreds of miles an hour!
Considering Barrage is an amorphous constantly shifting blob… I think it’s pretty impressive he managed to hit the heads.
That’s a nasty blob thing
I’m surprised that worked. Usually with that type of… mutation? power? One would assume that bullets would be rendered ineffective. Either due to regeneration or the shifting around or complete lack of vital organs to hit. I’m torn between wanting to cry bullshit and applauding you guys for not following the beaten path, so to speak 😀 And when a story makes me do that I take it as a good thing 😀

I always imagined that super-invulnerability either worked by some kind of integrity fields bracing ordinary matter and holding it in place, or by enhancing existing molecular bonds so that they behave more like a harder material (with allowances for softness).
While those integrity fields or enhanced molecular bonds may still be weaker in originally soft tissues, it seems like a fairly odd argument that it would be easier to kill them because the skin/tissues themselves are thinner. If it was just a matter of thickness you might as well use mundance materials, no?
Kinda feel bad for the guard. Not only was he disarmed, but had his index finger broken in the process
I’ll be surprised if that really works. Why would they keep their brains that close to the surface?
The lowest guy on panel five, Vince’s death hit him pretty hard from the look of those eyes.
But I guess bullets hit harder eh?
Well, that blew their minds, didn’t it? WHAT? Somebody had to say it.
Ha ha! Spot on!
Barrage à trois versus barrage of bullets.
Turns out that bullets win.
Looks like The Thing in mid transformation.
