VANGUARD – Issues Five & Six reviewed
What does AP2HYC stand for? – Why, A Place to Hang Your Cape, of course!
The fifth and six issue of Vanguard have been reviewed by the awesome people over at A Place to Hang Your Cape.
I’ll make a post when the final set of reviews are up on their site.

So, I wanted to say that on AP2HYC, but their comment system is broken (wants a captcha entry when there is no captcha), therefore I am posting it here. Please don’t hink this is an attempt at white-knighting…
I don’t think this review is very helpful. Besides it giving away that much of the plot that reading the actual comic is not necessary anymore, it does not feel like a fair criticism.
Portraying a comic as mediocre for having plot threats that don’t connect directly (maybe yet) and focusing more on the plot than on the symbolic question of “What makes a hero?” seems to be mistaking justified personal preferences for objective criteria of quality.
Furthermore, getting a main character’s name wrong twice makes it questionable, how thoroughly the comic itself has been read.
And finally, going out saying the comic has no clear goal, when it is stated earlier that the comic is mostly about the plot – which means it wants to tell a story – is self-interdicting and ends the review on a rather low note in regards to itself.
Spoke to the peeps over at APHYC and the comments section should now be fixed. I understand and take onboard your crits of the article. Next week’s review should cover issue seven and what has been done on eight. I look forward to seeing what Robert thinks of the story as it pans out.
