Wait! we know that US drones had their video feeds hacked with a thirty dollar Russian program. Why the bloody blue blazes would they be transmitting a black-op, let alone redirecting it to a third party???
You’ve confused me. What black-op are they transmitting?
Anyone else automatically picture an Eagle Transporter when they read “Eagle Five”?
Had to Google that reference. Space 1999! Old school!
2nd panel, should read “…Vanguard were busy…” with no apostrophe.
Thanks for the heads up! The whole comic was read through before going to print by my good friend (and proof reader) Muireann (who appears in the comic). I need to re-upload the amended pages that rectify the errors.
Thanks for commenting!
Before I move onto the next comic page, I’m sure this American team will fail/die in their mission.
I cannot confirm or deny, lest I spoil the surprise for upcoming readers of this page 🙂
You know, a 40 megaton nuke is pretty good news as far as things go. A R-36 with 10x750kt warheads and 40 penetration aids, on the other hand…well, that’d be far worse.
I’ll have to take your word for that, as I have no idea what the warheads are!
There are a number of reasons:
1) a single 40 MT fission-fusion-fission warhead is going to weight at least twice the maximum payload of the most powerful ICBM built to date (the 50-60 MT Tsar Bomba weighed over 20 tonnes, but it used a lead tamper instead of a uranium one). You could probably build two R-36s for the same total cost as a single ICBM carrying a 40 MT warhead.
2) the effects of a nuclear blast are not linear. In fact, four 125kt warheads will destroy as much area as a single 1 MT warhead (http://www.atomicarchive.com/Effects/effects1.shtml)
3) while it is harder to hit a single warhead amongst multiple penetration aids, it also means that the enemy’s ABM only has to score one correct hit to remove the threat. Multiple warheads with multiple penetration aids will be easier to hit (assuming a given number of total RVs), but harder to completely defeat.
You’re knowledge of such weaponry is impressive!
Guess we’re going to learn Neo-Rasputin’s powers the hard way.
Definitely the hard way 😉
Suit: “…A religious fanatic that believes Russia has suffered continued persecution by the west…”
“Hah! What a loon!”
Suit: “We’ve sanctioned several assassination attempts on the man…”
“…Okay, fair enough. Not such a loon then.”
