V12 – Pg01
Hello you!
Woke this morning to find the UK has voted to leave the EU. If I’m honest, I’m pretty gutted. Many of my friends and colleagues didn’t think it would play out this way, but I was fairly sure it would.
On a side note I was asked, with my characters being decked from head to toe in flags, had I ever attracted people with more ‘extreme’ views onto the title. With any luck, any reader should quickly discover that VANGUARD is not that kind of comic. The heroes are decked out in this way as a tool. It’s used to tap into patriotism/nationalism and garner almost instant support from the general public (in the story, at least).
Anyway, we’ll soldier on and I’m sure before long, we’ll be welcoming Prime Minister Boris Johnson. *wince*
As you may or may not know, VANGUARD updates on Wednesdays and Fridays, BUT if you’re a Patreon of the comic, you’ll get a week’s worth of the comic ahead of the main site PLUS the daily sketch updates PLUS the chance to win an art commission. What a great deal, eh? So why not help the creation of VANGUARD and throw a few bucks into the pot?
Enjoy!
Dan
Please spare a moment to sling the comic a vote – Thank you!

Put the DeTonneres in power! They’ll fix everything!
Ha ha! Yes! The DeTonerres can sort this one out for us 🙂
Breaking ties with Europe is indeed a bad idea for England. Leaving the EU, however, is a very good idea, which seems quite confirmed by the EUs response to England leaving (saying publicly and explicitly to punish them to make sure no one else leaves).
The people of England have sacrificed much over many centuries to escape unaccountable rule by the nobility. Even if leaving the EU is painful in the short term, it makes sense from that viewpoint – the rulers of the EU are little more than modern nobility, imposing their will on the people with no accountability.
The same sentiment in the USA seems to be a large portion of what is driving the ridiculous Trump phenomenon, and I think a similar analysis would apply.
Then the Brexit leaders quit like their job is done. Which it shouldn’t be unless there were other hidden motives. Buyer’s remorse sets in.
Indeed. We’re still suffering from this and we haven’t even left yet
