V16 – Pg19
Pyro-Punch!
Luke (aka Spitfire) doesn’t seem to have much of a grasp over his abilities. But we’ve come to find out that he is WAY tougher than when we last saw him in action in issue nine. As you’ll soon see, his jump in power has not gone unnoticed.

So yeah, the laser beams were showy, but he’s got way more powers than just that. Considering he could injure Maxtreme before, he’s probably more powerful overall now… but Maxtreme knows how to fight people his strength and Luke doesn’t.
Good old Max, I bet he is waiting in the shadows somewhere closeby.
Pop your head like a pimple fool.
“I didn’t mean to do that!”
Unsaid: “OK, now that… that I MEANT to do. Anyone else?”
Bitchslap decapitation. XD
They dont make them like they used to.
Its clear that the old school metas are superior to the new ones.
Sadly (If i understand things correctly) that pesky meta virus has (for some reason) made it very hard to make the new metas as good as the old ones.
Also is that meta virus still around causing problems?
It’s also important to remember that Luke is a natural born Super. Most meta’s we see are just people given the treatment to become supers. And most of them are made super from a private company. Like the ‘Neat’ guy. The meta’s we saw early on were mostly made for a nation’s strike-force. These guys are here for the entertainment of the masses.
The meta virus was very specifically built for the “Alpha-One” set of human modifications; I think to be more specific, the Alpha-One was actually designed to have a flaw exploitable by this virus, so that once countries were dependent on them for defense, they could destroy them all easily. Creating an Alpha-One was astronomically expensive, such that only large countries (or corporations, in the case of Maxtreme) could afford one. Since they’re so expensive, there was still plenty of metahuman research to make cheaper metas that were still effective, but this tends to result in a lot of glass cannons. The meta virus is still around; it killed every alpha-one except for Max (who has medication that prevents symptoms temporarily), and new ones are therefore impossible to create.
Luke is a natural super, and is thus completely separate from standard expectations of metahuman power levels (as in, stronger metas cost more money to create). He also won’t have a problem with the virus, as he isn’t an alpha-one. It appears he has strength and durability comparable to one now though. I want to know how his laser beams do now; they were strong back in the day, so if they’ve grown in strength at a similar pace as the rest of his powers, they could be devastatingly powerful.
Well he might not have meant the smoosh threw that lady but I’m pretty sure he meant to knock that guy’s head off.
