I’m currently typing this while sitting in my dressing gown and drinking a half cold cup of coffee. Yay! No work for me today… well, apart from working on a Vanguard page for next week.
Was very pleased to see that Vanguard was reviewed over at Comicbook Kid by top blogger, Gemma Hart.
Go take a look and see what you think!
Thanks for taking the time to read and review the comic, Gemma.

What does AP2HYC stand for? – Why, A Place to Hang Your Cape, of course!
The third and fourth issue of Vanguard have been reviewed by the awesome people over at A Place to Hang Your Cape.
The review mentions that the base in the beginning of issue four ‘recalls GoldenEye with Time Crisis’. It’s an astute observation, as the base design was crafted after the Goldeneye ‘Facility’ level!
I’ll make a post when the next set of reviews are up on their site.

What does AP2HYC stand for? – Why, A Place to Hang Your Cape, of course!
The first two issues of Vanguard have been reviewed by the awesome people over at A Place to Hang Your Cape. It’s a top site for all thing ‘superhero-y’. I had the pleasure to meet several of their writers at the Captain America screening and we talked all things superhero before the film started.
As for the review, go read it HERE!
I’ll make a post when the next set of reviews are up on their site.

Hello!
I’ve worked up another thumbnail pic comparison to show you what the (little) differences there are between what I plan to put on a page to what actually goes on one.
First off, I assemble all the elements in Photoshop amnd move them into position, so there’s quite a bit of room for play at this stage. By shifting panels/characters around, I can make a more readable page or just one that ‘pops’ a little more. I think this is apparent by looking at the page 18. The sequence with Thade falling through the air was tweaked considerably to make it flow a little better as well as to look more ascetically pleasing.

Hello again!
I have a special treat for you today. Ben Jones, a long time friend a creative buddy has started work on a VANGUARD theme song! Huzzah!
Great work so far, eh? I’ll be updating when Ben works up a newer version. In the meantime, pop over and check out Ben’s (aka Bedroom Junkie) other work.

I was fortunate enough to be sent tickets by my good friends over at the Cult Den to go to a special Skype preview screening of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
I can confirm that’s another great superhero action movie from the Marvel stable, with a surprising amount to say about civil liberties and sacrificing freedom for perceived safety. I won’t go to much further in to it, lest I spoil the experience.
I was a big fan of Cap and collected back issues avidly. Why did I stop? This abomination of a storyline kinda killed my interest in the title. I’ve not read any of the new stories, so I went into Winter Soldier pretty much ‘blind’. That said, Marvel fans will especially love seeing classic Cap friends and foes popping up and shout outs to other characters within the Marvel Universe.
I’d give this film a solid 8 out of 10… and i’m not just saying that because they gave me these awesome badges 😉

Hello!
Just a sketch for some more upcoming people in the story. These two will be popping up in the second arc of Vanguard.
