V10 – Pg10
In the future, law enforcement will be privatised… and if you ain’t covered, you’re going to be in trouble.
This sequence originally had two meta humans coming to the rescue, rather than the two Meta-Cops. Here’s an image of what I’d done on them so far:
Gary re-wrote the sequence, making it a lot better. The two of us have been working hard on the upcoming pages and the overall story in general. I’m genuinely excited about what’s coming up next 🙂

Reminds me of A Bit of Fry and Laurie

‘Oh Peter, I am sorry’.
I love that sketch… and Fry and Laurie generally. I originally had the sequence with two superhero-style characters, but Gary changed it into police officers. I used the name ‘Brit Law’ as a nod to the sketch.
Just recently had a conversation with someone who wanted to privatise anything that made a state, except the base government itself. Get rid of all taxes and have the privatised companies be paid through their own fees. And have any public debt be part of the selling package for the respective parts of the administration that caused it.
We had a hard time explaining to him just why it a) wouldn’t work and b) was a bad idea anyway. He started to come around after we repeatedly mentioned police forces and the whole justice system. And explained why those would not work in private hands. Still didn’t see why anything else, including selling the debts to private owners, could be problematic though.
Well, once this sequence plays out, point him towards this comic. It’ll be a great example of how bad stuff could get. The idea of privatising everything is a nightmare scenario for me. Number one priority is profit for business/corporations. All other concerns are secondary.
This isn’t going to end well
what happen if the robber has a higher tier plan?
Policing is costly and when it is run by the market, you better be ready to pay for it. And you better be rich. I am surprised they aren’t just hauled away to indentured servitude for the nest 10 years to pay it off.
