Er. Does she WANT to be?
The Crone of Winter, she is too young. The Cailleach in Celtic myth is the manifestation of the cold harshness of the northern winter. A wolfshead however is an English term in medieval times was the way they referred to outlaws. So in that combination she would somekind of bogeywoman/avatar of Hernes rage, fury and a rebalancing of nature. Spitball has now ended, resume your day….
Oh it’s way more complicated than that…a hint, winter is not always winter and wulfshead goes much deeper than the depraved middle ages. 😉 The complete kenning is beyond me but the lass will likely be a quite a bit more than the old man.
Indeed. The ways of Gods/mythology is always up for re-interpretation and retelling. What Jordana’s fate/path will be could well be very different to what has come before.
Excellent! (And great artwork, as always! So vibrant and powerful. You don’t mute down your colors like a lot of other sites do, and you’re storytelling is topnotch, too).
Thanks Doug!
Appreciated 🙂
You can’t always trust your interpretations of things that are very old and may be older in meaning than those who have studied it realized. Obviously an entity of the forest and heather. A country really can have “gods”. Even those reduced to myths and legends.
